Zetta Marie Blickensderfer

Zetta Marie Blickensderfer, 83, of Dennison, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Park Village in Dover peacefully surrounded by her family after living through 2 pandemics. Born October 14, 1938 in Dennison, she was a daughter of the late Vernon Alpheas and Dora (Orino) Gatchell.

Zetta was a lifelong Twin City resident where she was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison. She was a1956 graduate of St. Mary’s High School where she was Valedictorian and Class President. She was a faithful and active member of her parish and its Altar Society, having been elected Catholic Woman of the Year in 2003. Her deep faith also led her to become church organist from 7 th grade until after high school, be a member of the Tuscarawas Central Catholic Mother’s Club, and partake in organizing the church festivals.  After high school, Zetta earned her cosmetology certification and was the owner and operator of Zetta’s Beauty Salon for many years – a career that she dearly loved – until injuries sustained in an automobile accident prevented her from continuing.

On June 26, 1961, she wed James Alan Blickensderfer with whom she enjoyed over 58 years of marriage until his passing on September 22, 2019. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed by her surviving family which includes a son, Alan M. (Lisa) Blickensderfer of Bolivar; granddaughters, Ashley M. (Jordan) Turek of Strasburg and Alyssa M. Blickensderfer of Columbia, SC; sister, Esther (Chuck) Ivan; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a sister, Mary Perkins.

Father Jimmy Hatfield and Father Tyron Tomson will celebrate the funeral Mass on Friday, August 26, at 11:30 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church. She will be interred with her beloved husband in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison. Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Church. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Park Village for their loving care.
