Zachary “Zach” C. Leatherman, 21, of Gnadenhutten, Ohio died Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Akron General Hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Thursday while driving to work. Born on January 2, 1990 in Dover, Ohio, he was the son of Sherri D. (Leatherman) Downs of Dennison and Ty W. Bricker with whom he had resided.
Zach was a graduate of Claymont High School and Buckeye Career Center in 2010 and had previously attended Conotton Valley Schools through junior high. He was employed by Valley Mining. Zach loved hunting and fishing, woodworking, and working on cars and engines in his spare time. His greatest joy came from spending time with his daughter, Emily Sue Leatherman. He was Methodist by faith.
In addition to his parents and daughter, he is survived by his fiancée, Brandy (Milliron) Leatherman of Dover and their expected son, Zachary Charles Leatherman, II; his grandmothers, Jane Warner of Uhrichsville and Ruth Bricker of Gnadenhutten; a sister, Maci Jane Bricker of Cuyahoga Falls; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He will also be sadly missed by his many, many friends, including best friends, Jeffrey and Codie. He was preceded in death by a brother, Cody Wayne Bricker; his grandfathers, Dean Leatherman and Charles Bricker; his stepgrandfather, Ted Warner; and an aunt, Nancy Howes.
Services for Zach, officiated by Rev. Mark Unrue, will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral home in Dennison. Interment will follow in Bowerston’s Longview Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Zach would have wished, and his family requests, that those attending his service and calling hours would dress casually as he was always happiest in jeans, work boots, and camouflage or t-shirts.
