Wynne Wilbert Skinner

Wynne Wilbert Skinner, 96, of Wooster, formerly a longtime Twin City resident, passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at Westview Healthy Living in Wooster. Born October 8, 1924 in Dart, Ohio, he was a son of the late William Norman and Laura Victoria (Haught) Skinner.

Wynne was a veteran of World War II who proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy before returning home to a long career with Superior Clay where he worked for 34 years until retiring in 1986. He was a longtime member of Dennison First Church of God and had most recently attended Highland Church of God while living in Wooster.

On January 22, 1949, Wynne married the former Thelma Lillian Walker with whom he enjoyed 68 years of loving marriage until her passing on May 25, 2017. They are survived by four daughters, Mary Jane Switzer, Jo Anne (Bill) Staley, Judy Brown, and Janet Squires; 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Jack Skinner; daughter, Thelma Jean White; granddaughter, Kristina White; and as the last of his family’s generation, his 16 siblings also predeceased him.

In the interest of public health, a private, family graveside service is planned in Union Cemetery in Uhrichsville, Ohio where he will be interred beside his beloved wife. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Highland Church of God, 669 W. High Ave., Wooster, OH  44691.
