Wilma Margaret Work, a former longtime resident of Dennison and New Philadelphia, passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2010 in Pennsylvania where she had resided with her daughter and son-in-law for the past several years.

Born June 29, 1918 in New Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Otis David and Maude Josephine (Holmes) Waltz.

Wilma was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School in the class of 1937. In addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, she worked at Twin City Hospital in the X-ray and Medical Records Departments for many years as a medical transcriptionist and also at Union Hospital in Medical Records. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in New Philadelphia.

On April 18, 1942, she married Ralph N. Work with whom she enjoyed nearly thirty-two years of marriage until his passing on August 22, 1974. They are survived by a son, John R. (Louise) Work of Minerva, O.; a daughter, Barbara (James) Van Lehn, of McMurray, Pa.; two grandchildren, Tracy (Don) Joseph of Davison, Mich. and Michael (Amy) Work of Pittsburgh, Pa.; four great grandchildren, Aaron, Brianna, Colton Joseph and Delainey Work; and many, loving nieces, nephews , great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sisters, Dorothy (Edwin) Glauser and Martha (Clarence) Wright.

A memorial service and celebration of Wilma’s life, officiated by Rev. Jamison Hardy, will be held on Monday, December 6, at 11:00 a.m. in Emmanuel Lutheran Church in New Philadelphia with visitation at the church for an hour prior to the service. Interment will be in East Avenue Cemetery in New Philadelphia.

Family and friends are invited to call at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.
