William Richard Cummings, 78, of Dennison, passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2019, at the Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia. Born June 12, 1940 in Dennison, he was a son of the late Raymond Paul “Cavey” and Mary Katherine (Cottrell) Cummings.
Bill was a 1958 graduate of Dennison High School and still enjoyed meeting his high school friends for breakfast each month. He was a driver for Tusco Grocers, a member of the F. & A.M., and a former Army reservist. In younger years, he loved hunting, and throughout his life, he was an avid OSU football fan and history buff. He was an active member of Uhrichsville Christian Fellowship for many years.
His surviving family includes his daughter, Dawn (Kyle) Williams; son, Mike Mallernee; grandchildren, Mitch (Brittney) McCue, Lexie (Adam) Tulak, Morgan Shepler and Van Mallernee; brothers, Charlie (Janice) Cummings and Nick (Terriann) Cummings; sister, Mildred “Sissie” Terakedis; and many close and special nieces and nephews. He is also survived by many, many close friends, including a lifelong friend, Jack Beckley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Florence O’Donnell, and brother, Phillip Cummings.
In keeping with Bill’s wishes, cremation is planned. A celebration of his life, celebrated by Pastor Jimmy Stull, will be held at noon on Wednesday, January 16, in Uhrichsville Christian Fellowship. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice and Uhrichsville Christian Fellowship.
