William C. Probert

William Clyde Probert, 79, of Uhrichsville, passed away at his home while surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, after a lengthy illness. Born August 29, 1943 in Dennison, he was a son of the late Leroy Charles and Helen Lucille (Harshey) Probert.

A 1961 graduate of Uhrichsville High School, Bill was a lifelong area resident with the exception of the time that he served our country in the U.S. Army. He returned home to a long career with Alsco in Gnadenhutten.

On March 27, 1965, he was married by the mayor to the former Antoinette Marie “Toni” Galantine, and their vows were sanctified by a priest on May 2, 1970. She survives him along with their children, Bill Probert, Dino (companion, Jodi) Probert, Melissa (Greg) Keefer, and Anjanette Gilland; grandchildren, Emily (Seb) Trussell, Hunter Probert, Kara Elizabeth Probert, Ashley Marie (Cody) Miles, Johnetta Johns, and Alexis (Tyler) Childress; and great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Audrey. Bill is also survived by his sister, Bonnie Glazier, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Probert, and sisters, Virginia Addison and Judith Goode.

Bill was a member of Tuscarawas V.F.W. Post #7943 who enjoyed a wide variety of hobbies and interests throughout his life. He will be remembered by many for his skillful dancing with Toni – especially the jitterbug – as they loved going to dances all over the area and entered many dancing contests, winning more than a few! He was an avid bowler who had won a number of trophies over the years, and in his younger years loved to roller skate. In retirement, he enjoyed doing wood crafts and attending car shows with Toni. He also spent many happy hours watching NASCAR and cheering on his favorite driver, Jeff Gordon.

In keeping with Bill’s wishes, cremation is planned without a visitation. His family plan a private celebration of his life. Those wishing to honor his memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Interim Hospice of Coshocton, 499 S. 2nd St., Coshocton, OH  43812, in lieu of flowers. Bill’s family wish to express their deep gratitude for the outstanding care provided by his social worker and nurses from Interim Hospice.
