William W. Jones, 63, of Uhrichsville, passed away at his home on Thursday, January 28, 2016, after a 4-month battle with cancer. Born March 8, 1952 in Dennison, he was a son of Maude Ellen (Baumberger) Jones of Uhrichsville and the late William Franklin Jones.
On November 9, 1974, Bill married the former Anna Mary Douglass who survives him along with their children, William (Leigh Ann) and Scott (Carly) Jones, and grandchildren, Grace, Kyleigh, Hope, William and Mya Jones. He is also survived by his mother, Maude Ellen; sister, Ellen Swaney; brothers-in-law, Dale and Ralph (Carole) Douglass; and several nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by his family who knew him as the most loving and wonderful husband, dad, grandfather, son and brother that anyone could ever hope for.
A 1970 graduate of Claymont High School, Bill had recently retired from Valley Mining after a forty year career, culminating in his position as superintendent. He was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Church and was a 4th degree Knight at the Dennison Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the F. & A.M. Mystic Tie Lodge #194, Scottish Rite Valley of Canton, the American Italian Club and the Uhrichsville Elks. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, barbeques with his friends, and going on trips to enjoy games of chance.
Father Tyron Tomson will celebrate the funeral Mass on Monday, February 1, at 10am in Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison. Visitation will be 2-6pm on Sunday in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison, concluding with a Masonic memorial service at 6pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Church’s Capital Campaign, Community Hospice, and Mystic Tie Lodge #194.
