William H. Craigo, Jr.

October 4, 1934 — April 8, 2011

William H. Craigo, Jr., 76, of Uhrichsville, Ohio, passed away at his residence on Friday, April 8, 2011 after a period of declining health. Born October 4, 1934 in Tippecanoe, Ohio, he was a son of the late William Henry Craigo, Sr. and Clara Mae (Stevens) Craigo.

A 1954 graduate of Freeport High School, Bill was a lifelong resident of the area. He retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation in 1997 after thirty years of service. In retirement, he was a driver for the Tuscarawas County Senior Citizens Center. After growing up in the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church at Stillwater, he had most recently been affiliated with the Uhrichsville First Assembly of God. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking.

On June 5, 1960, Bill married the former Bonnie L. Garrett with whom he celebrated fifty years of wedded bliss last year. He is also survived by their children, Joyce (Mark) Wright of Uhrichsville, Cindy (Jerry) Waycaster of Akron, and Mark (Amy) Craigo of Uhrichsville; two grandchildren, Justin (Allyson) Wright of Dennison and Lane Craigo of Uhrichsville; five step-grandchildren, Lindsaye (Stan) Dombrowski, Briana Diehl, Tom (Brenda) Waycaster, John (Dawn) Waycaster, and Denise (Jack) Bunnenberg; nine step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Helen Jean (Homer) West of Gnadenhutten, Irene Rivers of Macon, Ga., and Eileen (James) McCullough of Buford, Ga.; two sisters-in-law, Vivian Craigo of Uhrichsville and Edna Craigo of Dennison; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Friend; two brothers, Robert F. and Samuel E. Craigo; and an infant sister.

Services for Bill, officiated by Pastor Minnie Garabrandt, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery in Stillwater. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Those wishing to honor Bill’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church or the charity of their choice.
