William Edward Dillon

William Edward “Bill” Dillon, 89, of Uhrichsville, passed away peacefully, while surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at Schoenbrunn Healthcare in New Philadelphia. Born November 7, 1928 in Roswell, Ohio, he was a son of the late Patrick and Mary (Krocker) Dillon.

Bill was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison and a 1947 graduate of St. Mary’s High School. He was a longtime member of the Dennison Knights of Columbus and Eagles. He coached baseball for many years and was inducted into the Cy Young Tuscarawas County Baseball Hall of Fame and the Tuscarawas County Baseball Old Timers’ Association. He was an avid fan of Notre Dame, the Cleveland Indians and Tuscarawas Central Catholic High School sports. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

On July 29, 1950, Bill married the former Maxine Rita Walters who survives him along with daughters, Donna (Jerry) Cole and Susan (Dave) Liberatore; daughter-in-law, Debby Dillon; grandchildren, Amy (companion, Nathan Smith) Adkins, Kim (Dave) Watkins, Erica (Mike) Hickman, Kelli (Wes) Halter, Traci (Marty Brown) Liberatore, Wes (Tara) Dillon and Todd (fiancée, Megan Wojcik) Liberatore; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Gloria Dillon and Patricia Fitzpatrick; and numerous nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Kay Lynn Nelson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, William “Billy” Dillon; sister, Mary Hagarman; and twin brother, Bob Dillon.

Father Tyron Tomson will celebrate the funeral Mass on Saturday, June 30, at 10:00 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Church.
