William Michael “Mike” Cummings, 68, of Dennison, passed away at his home on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 after a hard fought battle with his health. Born August 9, 1946 in Dennison, he was a son of the late William Paul and Mary Jane (Van Lehn) Cummings. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Dick Cummings, and a grandson, Hunter Orr.
  
  
  Mike was a 1964 graduate of Dennison High School before serving his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1965 to 1969. He was a lifelong resident of Dennison and member of Park Christian Church. Mike had a knack for fixing things and especially loved working on cars. He also enjoyed woodworking and was a member of the American Legion.
  
  
  Mike was a very loving father, “Papa”, and friend who was loved by everyone. He would do anything for his family. He is survived by his special friend, Brenda Pollock; children: Michelle (Steve) McPeek of Dover, Michael Cummings of Dennison, Melissa (Alan) Maffo of South Carolina, Shelly (Ed) Orr of Gnadenhutten, Richard “Buzz” (Lisa) Cummings of Midvale, Kendra Zelaya of Georgia, and Taneka (Brandon) Cummings-Bates of Dennison; grandchildren: Madison, Makenzi, Brittany, Brandon, Kaylee, Morgan, Joey, Ashley, Emma, Kaitlynn, Cameron, Miquan, Myles, Phillip, Bryce, Tara, Austin, and Logan; great-grandchildren: Aubrey, Edie, and Isabella; sister-in-law, Joann Cummings; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
  
  
  Services, officiated by Pastor Scot Caley, will be held at 11am on Saturday, November 29, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow with a military committal service in Gnadenhutten’s Clay-Union Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4pm to 7pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice or any charity which benefits veterans.
