A resident of Uhrichsville until 1965, Bill was Captain of the Uhrichsville High School football team and a graduate of Uhrichsville High School in the class of 1954 where he met his lifelong love, Rosalie June (Johnson) Albright whom he married on August 8, 1958. June preceded Bill in death just over four months ago on April 2, 2010 after celebrating fifty-one years of marriage.
They are survived by a son, Derek Colton Albright and his wife, Jeannie, of New Philadelphia; and two grandsons, William Hunter and Garrett Fisher Albright of New Philadelphia. Bill is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Walt (Ruth) Kula and Mrs. Peggy Edie; a brother, John Albright; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jacob Albright.
Bill spent thirty-seven years in the service of his country, first with the United States Army Reserve and continuing as a member of the National Guard, serving with the 1484th Transportation Co. in Dover. He was an industrial engineer who worked for a number of area manufacturing companies including Warner-Swasey, Joy Manufacturing, Empire Detroit Steel, Tyson Roller Bearing, E.W. Bliss, and Akron Brass.
An avid outdoorsman, Bill was a Life Member of the Tusco Rifle Club who enjoyed hunting in his younger years. He also loved spending time boating and fishing, especially when accompanied by his grandsons. Until recently, Bill and June enjoyed wintering in Florida where they had many dear friends who were fellow “snowbirds”. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in New Philadelphia.
In keeping with Bill’s wishes, he has been cremated without a public visitation. A memorial service and celebration of the lives of Bill and June, officiated by Rev. Harry Milligan, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 28, at New Philadelphia First Baptist Church. Their family will receive callers at a reception immediately following the memorial service. They will be interred together in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery at a later date.
