William J. Affolter

William J. Affolter, 57, of Uhrichsville, Ohio, died Saturday, September 8, 2012 at Union Hospital in Dover, Ohio after a lengthy illness. Born October 27, 1954 in Dennison, Ohio, he was a son of the late Elmer and Neva Jean “Tena” (Page) Affolter.

Bill worked in the local clay industry for many years, mostly for Whitacre-Greer Steel in Midvale. He also was employed by U.S. Chemical in Gnadenhutten for a number of years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and, especially, fishing in his spare time. He also enjoyed watching his favorite sports teams, the Cleveland Browns and The Ohio State Buckeyes. He was a loving father and grandfather who treasured the time that he spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandson.

His surviving family includes his wife, Rhonda A. (Henry) Affolter of Uhrichsville; daughter, Brandy (Vince) Meyer of Uhrichsville; sons, Shane (companion, Mandy Green) Affolter and John (Tabitha) Affolter of Uhrichsville; grandchildren, Vinney (companion, Natalie Civiello), Billy and Cody Meyer, Brooklyn and Isabella Affolter, Jerzi Green and Kanzas Affolter with another grandson expected; great-grandchild, Michael Harland and another expected; siblings, Smoke (Judy) Affolter, Kathy (Willard) Menefee, Bob (Donna) Affolter, Jimbo (Bubbles) Affolter, Jeep Affolter, Tena (Jim) West, Ben Affolter, Becky (Butch) Bennington, Barb (Bob) Colvin, Karen (Steve Morris) Williams and Connie (Karl) Hoop; sister-in-law, Thelma Affolter; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, William J. “Little Bill” Affolter, Jr.; brother, Dick Affolter; and sisters, Jill Affolter, Angel Affolter and Libby Affolter-Wright.

Services for Bill, officiated by Pastor Lisa M. Meese, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 13, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Those wishing to honor his memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the Twin City Christian Service Center.
