Wayne E. Rouse, Sr., 74, of Dennison, O., died of congestive heart failure on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at Union Hospital in Dover, O.
Born May 11, 1936 in Bellaire, O., he was a son of the late Russell C. and Violet (Johnson) Rouse.
Wayne was a resident of the Twin City area since 1957. He was a lift truck driver for Alsco Anaconda until 1993, after which he worked in the quality control department of Tusco Grocers until his retirement in 2001. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and was awarded the China Defense Medal for his service.
On May 16, 1959, Wayne married Margaret E. “Peg” (Balogh) Rouse who survives him at their home. He is also survived by two sons, Wayne E. Rouse, Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Dennison and Stephen R. Rouse and his companion, Janie, of Uhrichsville; two special step granddaughters, Stephanie and Brittany Swinderman; a sister-in-law, Paula Miller of Massillon; a brother-in-law, Herbert Snow of Uhrichsville; three nieces; special cousins, Donny and Sharon Coen, Mick and Penny Coen, Patricia Milburn, Tink Coen, Larry Gene Tufford, and Paul Tufford; and dear friends, Jim Miller of Wickliffe, O., George and Mary Piatt of Missouri, and Dave and Jody Dunlap of Uhrichsville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Rosalie Garbrandt.
Wayne was a very family oriented man who loved spending time with his wife, children and extended family. He also enjoyed music and movies, and was an avid tinkerer who loved to build things and anything that he could do with his hands.
In keeping with his wishes, Wayne has been cremated without a public visitation. A memorial service and celebration of his life, officiated by Pastor Tom Klaserner, will be held at 6:00 p.m. in Wayne and Peg’s home on Monday, September 27. Those wishing to honor his memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Community Hospice.
