Walter H. Smith

Walter H. “Walt” Smith, 60, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Aultman Hospital in Canton after a lengthy illness. Born May 11, 1952 in Dennison, he was a son of the late Hayes Smith and Delores Marie (Williamson) Cox.

Walt loved to travel and spent time living in nearly every state, working in a variety of industries in the different communities he called home. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by three daughters, Michelle Markley, Jenny K. Hunt, and Shannon Kyle; twelve grandchildren; a great-grandchild; siblings, Melodie (David) Bradford, Holly (Gary) Henry, Jolene (Mike) Baughman, Daniel (Judy) Smith, Karin (Bob) Walker, H. Neil (Cathy) Cox, Ruth Stoll, Brenda (companion, Glenn Jones) Stull, Ruby (companion, Bob Treherne) Cox, Lori (companion, Alan Patterson) Cox, and Lloyd (Lynette) Cox; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Hayes and Carol Smith; mother and stepfather, Delores and Homer Cox; daughter, Beth Ann; brother, Carl “Pete” Smith; and two infant brothers.

In keeping with Walt’s wishes, he has been cremated without a public visitation or service. He will be interred with his mother in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his family in care of the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home, 26 Grant St., Dennison, OH 44621-1269 to help defray the cost of his final expenses. All are invited to attend a spaghetti dinner benefit at Uhrichsville Eagles Aerie #2264 from 12:00-7:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2013 to assist the family.
