Virginia Mae Walton

Virginia Mae Walton, 80, of Uhrichsville, O., was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 27, 2008 from Union Hospital in Dover, O., following a period of declining health.

Born October 22, 1928 in Tuscarawas, O., she was a daughter of the late Arthur R. Reiser and Anna Elizabeth (Host) Reiser Stoutt.

Virginia grew up in Tuscarawas and was a graduate of Tuscarawas High School in 1946. Later that year, she married Henry Richard Walton on September 7 and enjoyed over fifty-four years of marriage with him until his passing on November 27, 2000.

Virginia and Henry are survived by three daughters, Cheryl Mallernee and her husband, Rev. Doug, of Leesville, Penny Radefeld and her husband, Lee, of Venice, Fla., and Karen Ghezzi and her husband, Tom, of Uhrichsville; a son, Arthur Walton and his wife, Karen, of Freeport; eleven grandchildren, Matt Mallernee, Laura Bartolet, Eric and Jason Plumley, Stephanie Carter, Vicki Hovanick, Ty Ghezzi, Carolyn Sproull, and Chad, Kevin and Chris Walton; twenty-six great grandchildren; and a great great granddaughter.

She is also survived by a brother, Arthur “Bud” Reiser of Marrietta, O.; a sister, Janice A. Conti and her husband, William, of Massillon; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, Virginia was employed by Twin City Hospital as a nurse’s aide and surgical technician for many years. She enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles and spending time with her family. Virginia also enjoyed the blessings of nature, tending her flower and vegetable gardens, as well as watching the birds that she would feed throughout the year. She was a member at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church.

Graveside services for Virginia, officiated by Rev. Doug Mallernee, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday in Mt. Carmel Church Cemetery near Westchester where she will be interred beside her beloved husband. Those wishing to honor her memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Mt.
