Virginia E. McGuire, 91, of Dennison, O., passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at Beacon Pointe Rehabilitation Center in Uhrichsville, O., after a lengthy illness.
Born January 28, 1919 in Dennison, she was a daughter of the late Paul F. and Ina E. (Russell) Grace.
A resident of Dennison throughout her life, Virginia was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison and its Altar Society where she was very active in the life of her parish until her health prevented her. She also volunteered at the Twin City Christian Service Center Food Pantry for many years and had been a volunteer at the Dennison Depot Canteen during World War II. She will also be fondly remembered by many in the railroading circles as she helped countless widows navigate the complexities of the benefits system upon the loss of their husbands.
Virginia was a graduate of Immaculate Conception High School in the class of 1937 before furthering her education at Columbus Business College. Several years later, Virginia married Wade Spencer McGuire on January 11, 1941, and devoted the rest of her life to being a loving wife and homemaker. They enjoyed over fifty-four years of marriage together until his passing on August 4, 1995.
Virginia is survived by a sister, Mrs. Betty J. Roncovitz of Houston, Pa., and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Paul R. Grace, and three half brothers, J. William, Roy F., and Hubert C. Grace.
Services, officiated by Father Anthony Lonzo, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2010, in Immaculate Conception Church. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison.
Family and friends are invited to call at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, during which time a Christian Wake Service will be held at 6:45 p.m.
Those wishing to honor Virginia’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Immaculate Conception Church’s Cemetery Fund and Hospice of Tuscarawas County.
