Virginia L. Jackson

March 2, 1947 — May 21, 2020

Virginia L. Jackson, 73, of Tippecanoe, was reunited with her late husband, Jim, when she passed away at her home on Thursday, May 21, 2020. Born March 2, 1947 in Dennison, she was a daughter of the late Lewis H. and Hazel E. (Arnold) White.

On August 15, 1964, Virginia married James C. Jackson with whom she enjoyed nearly 50 years of marriage until his passing on June 21, 2014. They are survived by four children, Kimberly Vermillion, J.D. Jackson, Dwayne (Myndi) Jackson, and Karrie (Don) Baker; 12 grandchildren, Anya, Audrianna (Doug), Anayla (Jeremy), Levi, Wyatt, J.J., Kyana, Tyler, Alexis (Dustin), Hayden, Courtney, and Logan; and 12 great-grandchildren, Haley, Hunter, Nate, Skylan, Brantley, Bryce, Carleigh, Jakexton, William, Lyla, Andrea, Ayonna, and Zandria. Virginia is also survived by her siblings, Dean (Jackie) White, Deanna (Chuck) Pulley, Leslie (Jay) Bardall, and Lisa (Chuck) Knotts, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Alexandria Baker, and son-in-law, Jack Vermillion.

Virginia was a lifelong area resident who had attended Lakeland High School. She will be remembered for her delicious cooking, having been the cook for the Red Barn and then the Tappan Lake Marina for 25 years. She enjoyed playing cards (especially Shanghai), loved sunflowers, and was a huge Elvis fan. Most of all, she loved her family and treasured the time that she spent with them. She was thrilled to be a grandma and great-grandma and dearly loved, each and every one of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In the interest of public health, no public celebration of her life is planned at this time. Pastor Roger Deardorff will officiate a private, family graveside service at Feed Spring Cemetery near Uhrichsville where she will be interred beside her beloved husband. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice.
