Virginia D. "Ginny" Scott

Virginia D. “Ginny” Scott, 93, of Uhrichsville, O., passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Beacon Pointe Rehabilitation Center in Uhrichsville after a period of declining health.

Born April 26, 1917 in Zanesville, O., she was a daughter of the late William Waters and Wilda Pearl (Masterson) Waters Scott.

Ginny grew up in the Zanesville area before spending much of her adult life as a resident of Uhrichsville. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker who devoted her life to her family. She was a member of the Tuscarawas County Doughgirls (a cookie cutter club) and the Tri-County Postcard Club, and was a former member of the Graniteware Association and the Tuscarawas County Heritage Club.

On March 23, 1934, Ginny married Burton George Scott with whom she enjoyed over sixty-six years of marriage until his passing on April 2, 2000. They are survived by a son, David J. Scott and his wife, Ann, of New Philadelphia; four grandchildren, Nathan Scott of Baltic, Danielle Scott of Fayetteville, N.C., and Christopher and Bryan Scott of New Philadelphia; and a great grandson, Ethan Scott. Ginny is also survived by a sister, Gaynelle Lingafelter of Crystal Lake, Ill., and several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Sheryl Colletti of Uhrichsville.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Wilda Scott, and a brother, Richard R. Waters.

Service for Ginny, officiated by Rev. Harry Milligan, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 8, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery.

Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Those wishing to honor Ginny’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the Twin City Hospital Foundation.
