Violet Marie Moody, 87, was called to her heavenly home from her earthly home in Dennison on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, with her loving family by her side. Born March 6, 1936 in Dennison, she was the daughter of the late Eugene Ralph and Eleanor Emma (Fanti) Soulsby.
Vi was a lifelong Dennison resident and a 1954 graduate of Dennison High School. She earned her Master’s Degree in Education from Ashland University. Mrs. Moody taught 5th and 6th grades at Claymont Intermediate School for 37 years before her retirement in 2010. She was a loving daughter, mother, and grandmother who cherished the time that she spent caring for her grandchildren, reminiscing with family and friends, and spending time with her mother until her passing at the age of 100 in 2016. Vi nurtured her faith as a longtime member at Uhrichsville’s Christian Temple. She fiercely loved her family and the Lord. She was willing to pray with anyone that would allow her, and she knew that her savior was awaiting her arrival in heaven. The angels are rejoicing.
She will be deeply missed by her surviving family which includes her daughters, Michele Moody and Susan (Michael) Harris; son, Donn Moody; daughter-in-law, Donna Moody; grandchildren, Maegan (Matt) Cummings, Dia Czatt, Ryan (Destiny) Moody, Riley (Michela) McDaniel, and Emmalee (Kaleb) McDaniel; great-grandchildren, Blake, Abbey Lane, Haylee, Zane, Finn, Liam, Scarlett, Eleanor, Lennon, Briella, Amelia, and Charlotte; and loving sister-in-law, Donna Soulsby. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Scott and Patrick Moody; two granddaughters, Melinda Zurcher and Danielle “Dani” Fellers; brother, Richard Soulsby; and her friend and former spouse, Donald “Moot” Moody.
According to Vi’s wishes, cremation is planned. Pastor Minnie Garbrandt will officiate a celebration of Vi’s life at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison where her family will receive callers for an hour prior to the service. She will be interred beside her beloved sons in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery on a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Ave. S.W., New Philadelphia, OH 44663 and American Cancer Society Hope Lodge, 11432 Mayfield Rd., Cleveland, OH 44106-2364.
