Violet Joan Kramer, 87, of Tippecanoe, formerly of Akron, passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 19, 2020, at Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital in Dover. Born March 31, 1933 in Akron, she was a daughter of the late James Willard “J.W.” and Roxie Louise (Garrett) LaPorte.
Joan grew up in Akron and was a 1951 graduate of Garfield High School. She married her lifelong sweetheart, Dale Frederick Kramer, on March 11, 1951 and enjoyed nearly 68 years of loving marriage with him until his passing on February 6, 2019. Joan was a devoted wife to Dale and a loving mother to their five children, Michael Dale (Debra) Kramer of Akron, Dawn Lynn Dundon of Tippecanoe, Tracey Louise (Clinton) Stubbs of Camp Verde, Arizona, Jacalyn Leora (Brian) Gilbert of Dadeville, Alabama, and Kim Krista Moss who preceded her in death. She will also be deeply missed by her 18 grandchildren, Aaron, Tracy, Adrian, Carrie, Katie, Nick, Heather, Chris, Jason, Rachel, Brian, Kelly, Roxanne, Blaine, Joseph, Michael, Tova, and Dillon; many great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, husband, and daughter, she was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Hershey.
According to Joan’s wishes, cremation is planned without a public visitation. She will be interred with her beloved husband at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lakeland Area Ministries, 79030 Freeport-Tippecanoe Rd., Tippecanoe, OH 44699.
