Vinda G. Beitzel

Vinda Geraldine Beitzel, 90, of Dennison, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2015, at Beacon Pointe Rehabilitation Center in Uhrichsville, after a brief illness. Born December 25, 1924 in Dennison, she was a daughter of the late Paul Wallace and Maude Agnes (Dietrich) Porter.

A lifelong resident of Dennison, Vinda was a 1942 graduate of Dennison High School and a longtime member of Dennison Presbyterian Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker who had also worked for the Evening Chronicle in Uhrichsville for many years.

On May 3, 1951, Vinda married Paul Linus Beitzel with whom she enjoyed nearly 53 years of marriage until his passing on April 10, 2004. They are survived by a daughter, Debbie Beitzel; a daughter-in-law, Teri Beitzel; grandchildren, Miranda Decker, Paul (Kristina) Beitzel, and Marie (Byron) Garvin; and 7 great-grandchildren. Vinda is also survived by a brother, Paul Porter, and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Mark S. Beitzel; sisters, Frances Welch and Thelma Freeman; and an infant brother, Earl Porter.

A graveside service, officiated by Rev. Carolyn Behrendt, will be held at 2pm on Monday, October 12, 2015 in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery where she will be interred beside her beloved husband. No public visitation is planned. Memorial contributions may be made to Dennison Presbyterian Church, in lieu of flowers.
