Verda L. Myers

Verda L. Myers, 88, of Dennison, O., passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2008 at Union Hospital in Dover, O., following a lengthy illness.

Born June 24, 1920 in Moorefield, O., Verda was a daughter of the late Franklin Joshua and Cora Bertha (Simpson) McKibben.

On April 9, 1941, Verda married John Raymond Myers with home she enjoyed over forty-seven years of marriage until his passing on March 28, 1988. They are survived by a daughter, Mrs. James (Shirley) Stewart of Gnadenhutten; two sons, Walter Myers and his wife, Carol, of Clarkston, Mich. and Dwight Myers and his fiancée, Penny Kohler, of Bowerston; four grandchildren, Tricia Baldauf and her husband, Craig, of New London, O., Walter Myers, Jr. of Clarkston, Mich., Michelle Myers of Uhrichsville, and Danielle Kohler of Bowerston; and great grandchildren, Zachery Ryan and Gabrielle Guthrie of Uhrichsville.

Verda is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Sara Zimmerman of New Philadelphia and Mrs. Leonard (Carrie) Hall of Freeport, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Clara West of New Philadelphia, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Verda was preceded in death by a sister, Bertha Boone, an infant sister, and grandchildren, John and Jennifer Myers.

A lifelong resident of the area, Verda was a cashier for the Clayland IGA (the former Goodings IGA) for many years. She was a member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church where she had been active in the United Methodist Women.

Services for Verda, officiated by Pastor Scott Simmons, will be held on Wednesday, December 17 at 1:00 p.m. in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery.

Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Those wishing to honor Verda’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church.
