Vera Jane Bartholomew, 85, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2020, at Mercy Medical Center in Canton, following a sudden illness. Born March 8, 1935 in Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Daniel Harrison and Hazel Ella (Kellog) McCollister. The last of her family’s generation, she was also preceded in death by her siblings, Alice Petrides, Edna Warner, Myrtle Legg, Roy McCollister, Harvey McCollister, two infant brothers, and an infant sister.

On August 5, 1956, Vera married Ernest John Bartholomew with whom she enjoyed nearly 18 years of marriage before his untimely passing on May 6, 1974 at the age of 44. They are survived by three daughters, Rose Garbrandt, Debora L. Patterson, and Laura (Sam) Caldwell; a son, John (Tina) Bartholomew; grandchildren, Matt (companion, Melissa Everett) Bartholomew, Julie Adkins, Ben Adkins, Michelle Adkins, Ashley (fiancé, Andrew Johnson) Caldwell, Chad Caldwell, and Stephanie Caldwell; and great-grandchildren, Satin (Carl) Akins, Matthew D. Bartholomew, Seth Adkins, Tyler Adkins, Zachary Bartholomew, Shialyn Greenwalt, Alexis (companion, Andre Donovan) Bartholomew, Dallas Hostettler, Eleanor Sauernheimer, Kingston Swigert, and Keegan Sauernheimer; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Vera was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker who loved caring for her home and family. She especially liked going out to eat with her beloved family who will always remember her as having the sweetest, most beautiful soul. She enjoyed playing Bingo, attending Twin City Senior Citizens events, embroidering, doing puzzles and crossword searches, and watching the Young and the Restless with her daughter, Debbie. She attended Uhrichsville Christian Fellowship.

A private, family service is planned before her interment in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery beside her beloved husband. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and Uhrichsville Christian Fellowship.
