Vada M. Parrish, 75, of Uhrichsville, passed away at Trinity Hospital Twin City in Dennison on Saturday, March 29, 2014 after a lengthy illness. Born August 17, 1938 in Cadiz, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Virgil L. and Agnes B. (Thompson) Lillie.
On June 4, 1955, Vada married Ronald E. “Snuffy” Parrish, beginning a loving marriage that spans 59 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker who loved spending every minute with her children and grandchildren that she could. In addition to her husband, she is survived by their 5 children, Connie (Mike) Hoover, Ronald (Kim) Parrish, Vicki (JW) Lorenz, Elaine (Gene) Penrod and Roger (Jenn) Parrish; 22 grandchildren, Roy (Jan) Tedrow, Leslie (Jeff) Vance, Amanda (Brad) Snyder, Crystal (Rafe) Reynolds, Rhonda (Steven) Daniels, Shawna Parrish, Ron Parrish II, Hailey Parrish, Blaize Parrish, Shea (Bill) Grove, Tandon Friley, Genia (Joe) Lightell, Brooke Penrod, Bobby (Catherine) Penrod, Ryan (Catherine) Parrish, Christina Parrish, Tiffany Parrish, Danielle (Cory) Greenwood, Jamie Parrish, Dakota Parrish, Justin Parrish and Joseph Reed, II; and 17 great-grandchildren. Vada is also survived by her brothers, Harold (Dolly) Lillie and Ronald (Allison) Lillie; brothers-in-law, Charles (Louise) Parrish and Larry (Sharon) Parrish; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved pet, Bambi. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Patrick Parrish; parents-in-law; 2 brothers; 2 sisters; 3 sisters-in-law; and 5 brothers-in-law.
Vada was a talented baker who loved making and decorating cakes, even earning her Baker’s License so that she could sell her beautiful creations for weddings and other events. She also enjoyed bowling, crafting, making candy and cookies, and flea marketing. She was a longtime member of the Uhrichsville Moose Ladies’ Auxiliary where she was a Senior Regent, as well as holding multiple chairs over the years.
Services for Vada, officiated by Pastor Jose Pena, Jr., will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in West Union Cemetery near Gilmore. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Those wishing to honor Vada’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the American Cancer Society.
