Tommy Lane Thompson

Tommy Lane Thompson, 68, of Uhrichsville, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Sunday, May 23, 2010.

Tommy was born in Dennison, OH on June 9, 1941 to the late Harold E. Thompson, Sr. and Geraldine (Pickering) Thompson.

A life resident of our area, Tommy was a 1959 Dennison High School graduate. Tommy had worked for many years as a coal miner and most recently had worked as a truck driver. Tommy loved spending time with his family, especially taking his daughter golfing and hunting.

In July of 1994, Tommy married Patricia Jean (Schaar) who survives him at their home. Tommy’s other surviving family include, daughter, Shelby Thompson of the home; three sons, Terry and wife Bobbi Thompson of Bolivar, Brian and companion Cheri Schupbach of Strasburg, and Master Chief Kerby and wife Shelly Thompson of Honolulu, HI; eleven grandchildren; two brothers, Randy and wife Marsha Thompson of New Philadelphia and Haddie and wife Merleyann Thompson, II of Dennison; sister Dawn Ann and husband Herb Cotton of Uhrichsville; father and mother-in-law John and Mary Schaar of Dover; brothers and sisters-in-law John and Melanie Schaar, Jr. of Sherrodsville and Brenda and Jerry Goehring of Dover; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by a niece, Jeanette Gatchell.

Services for Tommy, officiated by Rev. Ed Shriver, will be held Saturday, May 29, 2010 at 11:00 am in the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Family and friends are invited to call at visitation for Tommy on Friday, May 28, 2010 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Tommy’s memory with a memorial donation are encouraged to do so to the Shelby Thompson College Fund at any First National Bank of Dennison branch.
