Thomas Lee Williams, 72, of Uhrichsville, Ohio, was called home to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, July 30, 2012 from Aultman Hospital in Canton, Ohio, after suffering an apparent stroke. Born August 3, 1939 in Dennison, he was a son of the late David Francis and Marie Leone (Anderson) Williams.
Tom was a resident of the Twin City area throughout his life and was a graduate of Dennison High School in the class of 1957. On August 11, 1959, he married the love of his life, Jo Ann (Smith) Williams and was blessed to spend nearly fifty-two years of marriage with her until her passing on August 9, 2011. They are survived by a son, Randy Williams of Uhrichsville; a daughter, Beth Ann (Mike) Baker of Westchester; and three grandchildren. Tom is also survived by his brother, Dave (Laura) Williams of Leesville; sister-in-law, Kate Warner of Canton; brother-in-law, Donald Smith of Uhrichsville; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Tom was a machinist for Gallagher Brothers in Uhrichsville for twenty-four years, as well as working in tool and die for several other area businesses. He was a devoted father and husband who spent as much time with his family as he possibly could, especially enjoying the family’s camping and fishing outings. For more than thirty years, he also worked his own farm which was his own little piece of heaven. In retirement, he joined his beloved wife in ministry, turning their home into the Chapel of Faith where they joyfully shared the Gospel with many souls who were led to the peace of Christ through Tom and Jo Ann’s witness. Although they will be sadly missed by their family and their many brothers and sisters in Christ, all who knew them can be comforted by knowing that this world’s loss is Heaven’s gain.
Services for Tom, officiated by Rev. Henry Mooney, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 2, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in Freeport’s Greenmont Union Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Tom’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Camp Kaphar, 1208 N. Uhrich St., Uhrichsville, OH 44683.
