Thomas Perry Hawkins, 76, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2015, at Beacon Pointe Rehabilitation Center in Uhrichsville, after a period of declining health. Born February 19, 1939 in Nashville, North Carolina, he was a son of Sallie Jane (Hawkins) Lunsford of Bolivar.

A resident of the area for much of his life, Tom was very independent despite the challenges of a lifelong health condition. He will be remembered for selling greeting cards to area residents for many years. He loved to travel whenever he had the opportunity and was gifted with great ingenuity and the ability to create many inventions. He especially enjoyed making lamps from materials including marbles, popsicle sticks and seashells.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, the former Ruth C. (Gatts) Hayes; sisters, Kathy (Sam) Nepsa of Dover and Cheryl (Dale) Dean of Cincinnati; brothers, Randy (Susie) Lunsford of Bolivar and Jimmy Lunsford of Portage Lakes; stepdaughters, Misty (companion, Earl Pittenger) Hayes and Diana (Jimmy) Fellows; several step grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, James Lunsford.

A memorial service and celebration of Tom’s life, officiated by Pastor Sandra Mann, will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 23, in the Full Gospel Church in Gnadenhutten. It will be followed by a covered dish wake in the pavilion. Memorial contributions may be made to his family.
