Thomas L. Donohoe

Thomas L. Donohoe, 89, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Community Hospice House in New Philadelphia after a brief illness. Born November 13, 1924 in Uhrichsville, he was a son of the late Thomas and Blanche (Whitaker) Donohoe.

A lifelong Twin City resident, Tom was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in 1942 before serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Tuscarawas V.F.W. Post #7943. After retiring from Union Camp Chemical Co., he loved spending time in his garden. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church throughout his life.

On October 14, 1966, Tom married the former Ruby Norton with whom he enjoyed 25 years of marriage until her passing on January 25, 1991. He is also preceded in death by his brothers, James, Charles and Matthew Donohoe, and sister, Frances Gross. Tom is survived by daughters, Linda (Dale) Meredith of Uhrichsville, and Sheila Moore and Janet Calhoun of New Philadelphia; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Paul (Mary Kay) Donohoe and Robert (Joyce) Donohoe of Uhrichsville; sister, Mrs. Henry “Margie” Zanon of Uhrichsville; sister-in-law, Mrs. Matt “Vivian” Donohoe of New Philadelphia; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his longtime companion and fiancée, Virginia Poland of Uhrichsville.

Services, officiated by Father Anthony Lonzo, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 25, at Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison with a military committal service. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Christian Wake Service held at 7:45 p.m. in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice and Immaculate Conception Church’s Memorial Book Fund.
