Thomas Richard Cox, 33, of Newcomerstown, formerly a resident of Uhrichsville for most of his life, was called to Heaven to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 30, 2014. Born March 30, 1981 in Dennison, he was a son of Cathy Sue (West) Cox Hindman of Gnadenhutten and the late David Richard Cox who preceded him in death in 2005.
A graduate of Claymont High School in the class of 2000, Tom had worked for a number of area businesses, including the Kimble Co. where he was currently employed. In his spare time, he was an avid dirt bike and ATV rider, enjoyed fishing and hunting, and loved spending time with his many friends.
Tom will be deeply missed by his loving family which includes his son, Mason David Cox of Tuscarawas; mother and stepfather, Cathy Sue and Roger Hindman of Gnadenhutten; grandmother, Nancy Carol Jones of Gnadenhutten; sister and brother-in-law, Trisha and Michael Mounts of Canton; stepsister and stepbrother-in-law, Chantel and Keith Gram of Gnadenhutten; nieces and nephews, Raina and Micah Mounts of Canton and Kaylee and Kyle Gram of Gnadenhutten; his former spouse, Amanda Gowins-Cox of Tuscarawas; and numerous extended family members, including many dear aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as his companion, December Nalley of Newcomerstown. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marvin “M.J.” Jones and Jesse and Opal Cox; an uncle, Thomas Allen West; and a stepbrother, Roger Dean Hindman.
Services for Tom, officiated by Pastor Sandra Mann, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 4, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow beside his father in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Those wishing to honor his memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the American Heart Association.
