Thomas Edward Colvin, Sr., 71, of Dover, passed away at his home on Wednesday, October 26, 2016. Born August 28, 1945 in New Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Carl Howard and Stella Martha (Inherst) Colvin.
A lifelong resident of the area, Tom was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School before proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed for many years by the Village of Baltic’s waste water treatment department. Tom was a member of the New Philadelphia V.F.W. and an avid sports fan who followed all of the Cleveland teams with great enthusiasm.
On May 18, 1971, Tom married the former Christine Haney with whom he enjoyed nearly forty years of marriage until her passing on April 13, 2011. They are survived by two children, Rhonda Colvin and Thomas (Linda) Colvin, Jr.; three grandsons, Brandon (Keri) Raber, Cody (Sandy) Raber, and Aaron Colvin; and five great-grandchildren, Travis, Thomas, Joshua Jr., Byron, and Suesanna. Tom is also survived by a brother, Larry (Laura) Colvin; sister, Mary Lou Colvin; and many extended family members including in-laws, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Tom was preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy Colvin, and a grandson, Cory Colvin.
Graveside services, officiated by Pastor Larry Fletcher, will be held at 1pm on Friday, October 28, 2016, in Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia with a military committal service conducted by the V.F.W. Burial Squad. In keeping with Tom’s wishes, no visitation is planned.
