Thomas Carpenter

Thomas Carpenter, 75, of Dennison, passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2016, at Community Hospice in New Philadelphia. Born July 11, 1941 in Calais, Ohio, he was a son of the late Otto and Harriet L. (Leach) Carpenter.

On October 10, 1964, Tom married the former Donna D. Langdon who survives him along with their children, Tina (Barrat) Carpenter-Ramnarine, Thomas (Marianne) Carpenter, II and Randy Carpenter, and grandchildren, Cody, Cruz, Chloe, Hillary, Jacob, McKade and Tanner. He is also survived by his siblings, Denny (Marvella) Carpenter, Wilma (Robert) Briggs, and Linda Carpenter, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Leonard Carpenter, Sr., Willian Carpenter, Jake Carpenter, Clayton Carpenter, Sr., Beulah “Irene” Henry and Wanda Miller.

Tom was a longtime member of Dennison Foursquare Gospel Church who had worked 30 years for Cravat Coal before retiring from National Stone and Gravel. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had served in the Reserves, as well. He loved camping with his wife and family and enjoyed many rounds of golf with his grandchildren. Most of all, he just loved being home with his family.

Services, officiated by Pastor Rod Phillips, will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, December 14, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison where visitation will be 11am-1pm before the service. Interment will follow in Gnadenhutten-Clay Union Cemetery in Gnadenhutten with a military committal. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
