Thomas Andrew Bonner

Thomas Andrew Bonner, 79, of Tuscarawas, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at the Ohio’s Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia, Ohio, following a brief illness. Born January 10, 1946 in Dover, Ohio, he was a son of the late Forest Earl and Mildred Marie “Mayme” (Ohler) Bonner.

Tom was a 1964 graduate of Midvale High School who earned an Associate Degree from National Technical Schools, as well as an Associate Degree of Arts in General Studies from Kent State University Tuscarawas. He proudly served his country in the Air Force from January of 1967 to December of 1970, having done his primary service stationed in Alaska.

Tom was retired from the volunteer fire department after 36 years, serving with Midvale-Barnhill and Tuscarawas-Warwick Fire Departments. He worked for several Tuscarawas County businesses, including Big Bear Grocery, Dover Tank and Plate, Dover Chemical, and General Telephone before being employed as an electrician for 29 years at Timken New Philadelphia until his retirement.

On October 28, 1967, Tom wed the former Jo Ann Quesenberry with whom he enjoyed nearly 56 years of marriage until her passing on August 25, 2023. They are survived by three daughters, Carla Coyne of Canton, Aimee (Lori Abshire) Bonner of Columbus, and Erin (Philip) Ulrich of Galena; and eight grandchildren, Jakob, Derek, and Charlie Ulrich, Victoria and Kayla Bonner, and Aidan, Janna, and Neala Coyne. Tom is also survived by his siblings, Lucy Anne Ricklic and Jim (Sally) Bonner; sisters-in-law, Harriet James and Mim Quesenberry; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, John Ricklic.

According to Tom’s wishes, he will be interred at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at Rittman, Ohio, following cremation. A Celebration of His Life, officiated by Rev. Bradley Call, will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at New Philadelphia First United Methodist Church with a time of visitation held one hour prior, from 3:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Those wishing to honor his memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Ohio’s Hospice Foundation, 716 Commercial Ave. S.W., New Philadelphia, OH  44663 and Warwick Township Volunteer Fire Department, 397 East Avenue Extension SE, Tuscarawas, Ohio 44682, in lieu of flowers.
