Thelma Lucille McPeek, 84, of Midvale, O., formerly of Dennison, O., passed away at her home while surrounded by her loving family on Monday, March 15, 2010, after a brief illness.
Born September 21, 1925 in Wainwright, O., she was a daughter of the late Henry Francis and Gertrude Elizabeth (Kohler) Walton.
Thelma was married to Howard Earl McPeek, Sr. on January 5, 1946, enjoying over sixty years of marriage with him until his passing on April 25, 2007. They are survived by two sons, Douglas E. McPeek and his wife, Sheila, of Midvale and Daniel L. McPeek and his wife, Sharyn, of Dennison; two daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Molly A.) Brandon of Midvale and Mrs. John (Mary E.) Free of Uhrichsville; a daughter-in-law, Geanie McPeek of Dennison; fifteen grandchildren; and thirty-nine great-grandchildren. Thelma was preceded in death by their son, Howard E. McPeek, Jr.
She is also survived by a brother, Curtis Eugene “Houg” Walton; a sister, Mrs. John (Joyce J.) Keffer; and many nieces and nephews.
Thelma was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family, especially when they would go out to eat together or on shopping trips. A former member of the Worldwide Church of God in Canton, she most recently attended Grace United Methodist Church in Uhrichsville.
Services for Thelma, officiated by her grandson Pastor Doug McPeek, Jr., will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 18, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover, O.
