Susan Kay Love, 75, of New Philadelphia, Ohio, was called from her earthly home to the more immediate presence of God on Saturday, July 25, 2026. Born June 21, 1951 in Dennison, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Robert Jennings Starkey and Theoda Josephine “Toady” (née Staley) Starkey.
Sue was a lifelong Tuscarawas County resident who had attended Tuscarawas-Warwick High School. She was a member of Sharon Moravian Church throughout her life where she had served as a Diener, along with her husband. Sue had been employed in a variety of capacities by Indian Valley Schools for 25 years, before retiring. Her greatest joy came from her family and her cherished role as wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. As her family grew, she delighted in each and every grandchild and great-grandchild and the time that she got to spend with them.
On December 6, 1967, Sue married William H. Love who survives her at their home. She is also survived by their four children, Bill (Tricia) Love, John “Jake” (Angie) Love, Curtis (Kim) Love, and Melinda “Mindy” (Casey) Myers; grandchildren, Will (Katelyn) Love, Ross (Sydney) Love, Nicholas Love, Emily Love, Anthony Love, Alec (Emily) Love, Matthew (Madylin McDaniel) Love, Zachary (Chloe) Love, Zane Love, Ethan (Jen) Love, Noah (Madison) Love, Brynn (fiancé, Braedan Harris) Myers, Samantha Myers, Remmington Myers, and Brooklyn Myers; and great-grandchildren, Julian “JJ”, Olivia, Henry, Lincoln, Lainey, Westley, Bennett, Charlotte, and Ella, with another expected. Sue’s sisters, Theoda “Sassy” McGarry, Nikki Horsfall, and Margaret (Timothy) Zurcher, and numerous nieces and nephews complete her surviving family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Melinda Sue Love; brothers, Richard Starkey and Robert Starkey II; and brother-in-law, Ben McGarry.
Her grandson, Nicholas Love, will officiate a 1:00 p.m. funeral on Wednesday, July 29, at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison where her family will receive callers from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, prior to the service. She will be interred in St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery in Tuscarawas. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
