Simon Taylor Beal

Simon Taylor Beal, 14, of Dennison, O., passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2011. Born January 17, 1997 in Southfield, MI., he was a son of Leo E. Beal and the late Pamela J. (Hnatowich) Beal.

Simon moved to the Twin City area a few years ago after growing up in Michigan. He attended Claymont Schools where he excelled in his school work. He was also played football for the Claymont Mustangs and devoted his summer to hard work and practice; he found his passion for football when he first started playing for the Northend Tigers on a peewee squad. Simon was an avid XBOX gamer and loved anything that had to do with the Army, with plans of joining after graduation.

His surviving family includes his father, Leo Beal of Michigan; sisters, Diamond M. Beal of the home and Amber R. Ickes of Taylor, MI.; brothers, Justin E. Hnatowich and Jeremy L. Canilao both of Detroit, MI.; grandmother, Delphine Hnatowich of Detroit, MI.; aunts and uncles, Betty and Francisco, Portillo of Dennison, with whom he resided, Sandy LaPlante of MN., Denise (Peter) Frauenheim of MI., Donna Hill of MI., Angela (Al) Wiley of IL., Crystal (Bobby) VanNorstrand of MI. and John Beal of TX.; cousins with whom he resided, V.J. Beal, Kelly Beal and companion Dwaine, Maria (Eric) Flickinger and Frank S. Portillo, along with numerous other cousins. Simon will also be sadly missed by his many friends.

Simon’s God parents were his uncle, Frank Portillo and his aunt, Angel Wiley.

Along with his mother, Simon is also preceded in death by his grand parents, Edward Hnatowich, and Virgil and Nancy Beal; uncles, Simon and Clyde Beal and Chris VanNorstrand; and cousin Frank Portillo, Jr.

Services for Simon, officiated by Father Anthony Lonzo, will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Port Washington’s Union Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Those wishing to honor his memory by a memorial contribution are encouraged to do so to the family in care of the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home.
