Shirley J. Scott

Shirley Jean Scott, 88, of Rootstown, Ohio, passed away at her home on Nov. 22, 2023, after 4-years of battling cancer.  She was the daughter of the late George Allen and Julia N. (Nemer) McPherson.

Shirley was a 1953 graduate of Revere High School. She drove school bus for 25 years and was transportation supervisor at her alma mater, then moved to Tappan Lake to enjoy retirement. She loved doing ceramics and was devoted to her dachshunds and great-nephew’s racing.

On November 1, 1958, Shirley wed H.E. “Scottie” Scott, Jr. with whom she enjoyed nearly 43 years of marriage.  She is survived by her brother, Donnie (Linda) McPherson of Cuyahoga Falls; nephew, George (Michelle) McPherson of Ravenna; great-nephew, Jacob McPherson of Ravenna; and many lifelong friends and cousins.

Shirley wishes to be interred beside her beloved husband at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, overlooking Tappan Lake. A graveside service will be held at 1pm on Nov. 27, 2023. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity for the benefit of dogs.
