Shirley M. Henry, 76, of Uhrichsville, O., passed away on Monday, Feb. 16, 2009 in her home, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Shirley was born May 20, 1932 in Uhrichsville. She was a daughter of the late Clark and Ethel (McLaughlin) Eichel. She was a lifelong resident of the area.
She was a 1950 graduate of Uhrichsville High School. Shirley retired from Claymont City Schools in 1998 where she had been employed as an aide.
Shirley enjoyed her family, especially spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed attending all of their activities and events. She also enjoyed attending her monthly luncheons with her former classmates. She was an avid Cleveland Indians Fan and enjoyed camping.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty-eight years, Robert E. Henry, whom she married on October 12, 1950 in Grace United Methodist Church in Uhrichsville.
She is survived by two daughters and a son, Pamela Henry and Susan (Ray) Baumberger of Uhrichsville, and Tim Henry of New Philadelphia.
Six grandchildren survive, as well: Rob (Ferrah) Henry of Uhrichsville, Brian Henry of Columbus, Jessica Henry of Columbus, Brent (Marybeth) Baumberger of Dover, Michelle (Chuck) Harshey of Columbus and Lindsey (Brent) Wolfe of Westerville, O.
Five great grandchildren complete the family, Makenna and Gavin Henry, Sean and Amaya Baumberger, and Chloe Henry.
Shirley is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Phillip Roth of Gnadenhutten; sisters-in-law, Ruth Bricker and Irene Henry of Uhrichsville; and several nieces and nephews.
She will also be sadly missed by her favorite friend, Kady, her dog.
She was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Arther Henry, Jr. and Charles Bricker.
Services for Shirley, officiated by Pastor Scot Caley, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 20, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home at Dennison. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery.
