Shirley G. Davis

Shirley Gean Davis, 74, of New Philadelphia, passed away at her home on Monday, September 6, 2021, after a brief illness. Born July 26, 1947 in Hazard, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Charles Alfred and Margaret Peggy (Haddix) Haney.

A Tuscarawas County resident for much of her life, Shirley was employed by the former Valley Manor Nursing Home (now Schoenbrunn Healthcare) as a nurses’ aide until her health prevented her continuing. In retirement, she enjoyed spending time doing crafts, listening to Elvis, and reading novels. A woman of deep faith, she loved to read her Bible daily.

Shirley will be deeply missed by her surviving family which includes her children, Michael (Paula) Haney, Samantha Carlisle, Margaret Peterson, and Ricky Davis Bevan; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Jimmie (Nina) Haney and Gary (Linda) Haney; sister, Lois Haney Milligan; sister-in-law, Nellie Haney; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Margret (Haddix) Haney, and siblings, Arnold Ray, Edward, Donald, Mary Frances, and Franklin Haney.

According to Shirley’s wishes, cremation is planned without a public visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
