Shelly K. Leeper Hermann, 41, a lifelong resident of Dennison, passed away while surrounded by her loving family and friends on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at The Cleveland Clinic after an illness of three months. Born November 8, 1971 in Dover, she was a daughter of Harry P. Leeper, Jr. and Sandra D. (Snedeker) Leeper of Dennison.

On July 3, 1998, Shelly married James P. Hermann who survives her at their home. In addition to her parents and husband, she is survived by two sisters, June (fiancé, John) Leeper of Uhrichsville and Misty (James) McNiff of Strasburg; a brother, Allen (Jaime) Leeper of Midvale; stepsons, Robert Hermann of Canton and Matthew Hermann who is stationed at Ft. Riley, Kansas with the U.S. Army; parents-in-law, Robert and Patricia Hermann of North Canton; seven nieces; one nephew; many cousins and other extended family members; and a host of dear friends and co-workers. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Harry and Dorcas Leeper; maternal grandfather, Ed (Mary) Snedeker; and maternal grandmother, June (Don) LaCroix. Shelly was also greeted in heaven by her beloved pets, Buddy – her beagle, and Diamond – her cat, who died shortly before her. Shelly will be greatly missed by her other dogs, especially Sunshine – her dachshund.

Shelly was a graduate of Claymont High School in the class of 1990 who worked for several area manufacturing companies. Most recently, she had been employed by Zimmer in Dover since August of 2012. She was a passionate animal lover who cherished her pets and also loved dolphins.

Services for Shelly, officiated by Pastor Scot Caley, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 27. Those wishing to honor Shelly’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the Tuscarawas County Humane Society, 6895 Dover-Zoar Rd. N.E., Dover, OH 44622 and Cats ‘N Us, 829 Union Ave., Dover, OH 44622. Shelly’s legacy lives on with her Gift of Sight through eye donation.
