Shelia Mae Nichols, 73, of Sherrodsville, was called home to the Lord on Tuesday, June 16, 2020, from her home while surrounded by her loving family. Born May 9, 1947 in Dennison, she was a daughter of the late Robert Whitman and Neva (Jones) Whitman Neighbors.

She will be deeply missed by her surviving family which includes her children, Pastor Lisa M. (Ron) Meese, Patty (Bruce) Armstrong, Andy (fiancée, Amy) Page, Alvin (fiancée, Stacey) Page, and Denette (Richie Davis) Nichols; grandchildren, Benjamin (Alicia) Meese, Destiny (Ryan Moody) Meese, Lauren (Cole) Wagner, Madison Page, Nickolas Page, Makieya Page, Zachary Bartholomew, and Alexis Bartholomew; great-grandchildren, Kendall Meese, Khyler Meese, and Briella Moody; sisters, Neva Jean Smith and Kay Buckey; numerous nieces and nephews; and her faithful canine companion, Cruz. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Betty Kosegi, Ronnie Whitman, Jimmy Whitman, Bobby Whitman, and Judy Fortney.

Shelia was an area resident throughout her life and had most recently resided in Sherrodsville for about 20 years. She will be remembered for her delicious home cooking when she worked for The Homestead (the former Army-Navy) and for several area restaurants and nursing homes. She had recently retired from Ember Complete Care with whom she had been a caregiver for a number of years. She was a member of Preach the Word Ministries in New Philadelphia and was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed swimming parties with her grandchildren and going to local fall festivals, as well as playing Bingo.

In the interest of public health, a private viewing at noon and service at 1:00 p.m. on Friday is planned at Preach the Word Ministries. She will be interred in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Those wishing to honor her memory by a charitable contribution may do so to Community Hospice.
