Shelia Ann Jackson, 78, of Uhrichsville, Ohio, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, March 18, 2026. Born August 8, 1947 in Dennison, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Stewart and Ruth Marie (Lowery) Jackson.
Shelia grew up in Dennison and was a member of Dennison High School’s last graduating class in 1965, before attending business college. While she had spent her younger years as a Twin City resident, she also loved traveling to different areas of our country and spent time residing in Altadena, California, Washington D.C., Omaha, Nebraska, and Atlanta and Savannah, Georgia. A devoted and loving daughter, she returned home from Savannah to care for her mother a number of years before her passing.
She was a woman of many talents who loved to lavish her delicious homemade food on family and friends alike. Shelia was also a wonderful seamstress who could create beautiful garments, even without using patterns. She will be remembered for how she gave of herself to her community in so many ways, including as a “classroom grandma” – volunteering to read to children at local schools.
Shelia was a faithful and beloved member of Uhrichsville First Methodist Church where she will be missed by her church family – who while mourning the loss of her also take joy in knowing her eternity. Shelia founded and ran the “Journey Clothing Ministry” at her church which focused on meeting people’s physical needs and ministering to their spiritual needs. She never missed an opportunity to witness to those who would come to the clothing ministry and invite them to her church. She had also been active in similar ministries while residing in Atlanta and Savannah.
She leaves behind her sister, Sandra Kay Jackson; brother, Dr. J. David Jackson; dear nieces, Jaikeele, Janiqua, Rebecca, and Rachel; great-niece, Aniyah; aunt, Minnie Washington; and a host of cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Stewart Jackson.
According to Shelia’s wishes, cremation is planned. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held on a future date, and this website will be updated with details when they are confirmed. Those wishing to honor her memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the Uhrichsville First Methodist Church Journey Clothing Ministry, P. O. Box 426, Uhrichsville, OH 44683, in lieu of flowers.
