Sean Michael Fox, 73, of New Philadelphia, Ohio, formerly a longtime Twin City resident, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at the Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare Truman House in New Philadelphia, after a period of declining health. Born January 21, 1951 in Steubenville, Ohio, he was a son of the late Russell Harry and Nancy Jayne (Kerfoot) Fox.
Sean grew up in Uhrichsville and in 1969 was a member of Claymont High School’s first graduating class. He was a mill operator for Alsco until their closing and was then employed by Tappan Propane and finally by Galt Industries until his retirement. He was a member of the Uhrichsville Moose, New Philadelphia V.F.W. Auxiliary and the former Army-Navy Club. For many years, Sean enjoyed meeting with friends for breakfast each week at Five Waters Golf Course. He was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
His surviving family includes his son, Aaron (Akemi) Fox; step daughter, Leslie (Jamie) Phillips, who was a tremendous help to Sean over the years, especially during his final illness; step grandson, Bronson (Karissa) Phillips; brothers, Richard F. (Darlene) Fox, Randall F. Fox, and Kevin A. (Debbie) Fox; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Sean was preceded in death by his brother, Russell “Rusty” Fox.
In keeping with Sean’s wishes, he has been cremated. A private, family graveside service will be held in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery where he will be interred with his parents. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ohio’s Hospice Foundation, 716 Commercial Ave. S.W., New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
