Scott B. Sherer

Scott Bradley Sherer, 64, of New Philadelphia, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2023, at the Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia, following a lengthy illness. Born September 5, 1958 in Dover, he was a son of the late Jesse C. Sherer, Jr. and Delores Ann (Williford) Sherer Luthy.

Scott’s surviving family includes his siblings, Catherine M. “Cathie” Leonard, James “Chris” (Maude) Sherer, Kim E. Sherer, Pamela M. Couch, and Patricia A. “Trish” Ady; numerous nieces and nephews; stepmother, Mary Sherer; his former spouse, Donita Sherer; stepchildren whom he loved like his own, Amber, Erica and Elizabeth Brown, Lindsey (Roman) Hershberger, and Christopher Hunter; a dear friend, Simon (companion, Krystal) Dummermuth; and his devoted canine companion, Chance. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Terry Couch, and stepson, Travis Hunter.

A lifelong area resident, Scott owned and operated his own Tool & Die shop for many years. He was an avid fisherman, loved his music, and spending time with and taking care of his “buddy”, Chance.

According to Scott’s wishes, cremation is planned without a public visitation or service. His family plans a private celebration of his life. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice.
