John Scott Oberholzer, 60, of Uhrichsville passed away suddenly on November 19, 2018 at Trinity Hospital Twin City. Born November 14, 1958 he was a son of the late John Charles “Jack” and Betty Jean (Witting) Oberholzer.
Scott’s love for football started at Tuscarawas Central Catholic High School where he received All-Ohio halfback two consecutive years. After graduating from TCC in 1977, he proceeded to play football at Muskingum College where he lettered all four years. He graduated from Muskingum College in 1981 with his Bachelor’s degree.
Many people knew Scott from delivering for Flowers Bread Company, formerly known as Wonder Bread. He was an avid golfer, a member of Immaculate Conception Church, and the American Italian Club. Scott’s greatest joy was the time he spent with his family and friends.
On September 3, 1994 he married the former Barbara Ann Smith who survives him. Also surviving are his siblings, Michael (Kathy) Oberholzer, Pat (Sandy) Oberholzer, and Shelley (Ron) Morrison; brothers-in-law, David Smith, Mike (Lori) Smith, and Dale (Pam) Smith; nieces and nephews, Michael (Mindy) Oberholzer, Lori Oberholzer, Erin (Joshua) Weirich, Sherry (Dan) Mata, Scott (Ashley) Oberholzer, Tammy (Will) Loveday, and Brian Morrison; and many close friends and golfing buddies, including, Mark Tomasina, Gary Martinelli, and Doug Henry.
Father Anthony Lonzo will celebrate a funeral Mass with Father Tom Gardner concelebrating on Monday November 26, at 10:00 AM in Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00 PM in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison with a Christian Wake Service beginning at 4:45 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Church or School.
