Sarah Ellen Watson

August 22, 1927 — January 17, 2013

Sarah Ellen Watson, 85, a 25 year resident of Newcomerstown, formerly a longtime Uhrichsville resident, was called to her permanent home in Heaven to be forever with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 17, 2013 from Beacon Pointe Rehabilitation Center in Uhrichsville after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Born August 22, 1927 in Sunshine, W. Va., she was a daughter of the late Warren Curtis “Buck” and Ellen (Beuglass) Fletcher.

On December 14, 1946, Sarah Ellen married Burl Watson with whom she enjoyed nearly forty years of marriage until his passing on January 16, 1986. She devoted her life to caring for her family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker who will be remembered for her beautiful sewing and crocheting. In her spare time, she also enjoyed doing ceramics, going camping and working puzzle books. She was a former member and past officer of the Uhrichsville Women of the Moose and a former member of the Ladies’ Auxiliaries of the Uhrichsville Eagles and Army-Navy, as well.

She is survived by her loving companion of 27 years, Charles Anslow of the home whom she always called “her man”; sons, Howard Watson of Newcomerstown, Jerry (Carla) Watson of Marietta, Dale (Kim) Watson of Dennison, Raymond Anslow of New Philadelphia, Charles (Naomi) Anslow of Uhrichsville and Donald (Bonnie) Anslow of Newcomerstown; daughter, Darlene (Arthur) Walker of Uhrichsville; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, George Fletcher, Edward Fletcher and Robert (Karen) Fletcher; sister, Betty Napalo; sisters-in-law, Myrt Fletcher and Madeline Fletcher; brother-in-law, Glen Hawthorn; numerous nieces and nephews; and her dear canine companion, Becky. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Dennis and Ernest Watson; a daughter-in-law, Carol Watson; brothers, Warren C. “Curt” Jr., William, John, James and Joseph Fletcher; and sisters, Charlotte “Lottie” Lapinski, Dorothy Fletcher and Helen Hawthorn.

Services for Sarah Ellen, officiated by Rev. Archie Jackson and Rev. Kevin Anslow, will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, January 21, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will be in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
