Sandra A. Metcalf, 67, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at Schoenbrunn Healthcare in New Philadelphia, after a lengthy illness. Born April 2, 1946 in Dennison, she was a daughter of the late William Struthers “Dobbin” and Marie Sarah (Decker) Metcalf.
A 1964 graduate of Uhrichsville High School, Sandy lived in the Twin City area throughout her life. She was employed by the former Scio Pottery for 15 years and had also worked in the dietary department of the former Valley Manor Nursing Home in New Philadelphia for a number of years. She enjoyed crocheting and quilting, and she loved caring for her many cats. In recent years, she had studied with the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Sandy is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Jennie and Dan McCue of Dennison; sister-in-law, Nancy Metcalf of Mansfield; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Herbert and William Metcalf, and sisters, Linda Metcalf and Martha Rataiczak.
In keeping with Sandy’s wishes, she has been cremated without a public visitation. A memorial service, officiated by Rick Lanning, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 10, in R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home for an hour prior to her service. Interment with her parents in Bowerston’s Longview Cemetery will be at a later date.
