Sandra Jean “Sandy” Burdette, 71, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2017, at Claymont Health and Rehabilitation Center in Uhrichsville. Born February 24, 1946 in Dennison, she was a daughter of Ruby Mae (Smay) Bloom of New Philadelphia and the late Alpheus Harold Bloom.
A lifelong resident of the area, Sandy was a 1964 graduate of Dennison High School and a longtime member of Newport United Methodist Church. She loved her family, as well as her church family, and enjoyed making crafts, especially the favors for the widow and widower dinner at her church.
On November 13, 1965, she married David M. Burdette who survives along with their children, Brian (Shelly) Burdette, David (Lori) Burdette, and Crystal (Terry) Smith; grandchildren, Brian, Nicole, Justin, Andrew, Ashley, and Dustin; and 9 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Rick (Kay) Bloom; sister, Betty Minich; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by brothers, Thomas “Tuck” and George “Butch” Bloom.
Pastor Lyle Warren will officiate a 1pm service on Monday, May 8, in the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison, preceded by two hours of visitation. Interment will be in Dutch Valley Cemetery near Uhrichsville. Memorial contributions may be made to Newport United Methodist Church.
