Samuel Patrick Granato, 88, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Community Hospice in New Philadelphia. Born November 2, 1926 in Dennison, he was a son of the late Anthony and Carmella (Cutrepe) Granato.

Sam was an Army veteran of the Korean War, having been stationed in the Phillipines. Many will remember him as the longtime owner and proprietor of Sam’s Sunoco in Uhrichsville. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison throughout his life.

On October 29, 1949, Sam married the former Ann M. Dalcoma with whom he enjoyed nearly 60 years of marriage until her passing on March 20, 2009. They are survived by 4 children, Sandra A. (Daniel) Fuller, Tony (Laura) Granato, Todd (Lisa) Granato and Staci (Mike) Knisely, and 5 grandchildren, Keith (Brooke) Fuller, Vinnie Granato, Logan Knisely, Sami Knisely, and McKenzi Granato. Sam is also survived by a sister, Mary Pallas, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph, Dominic, Peter and Ross Granato, and sisters, Sarah Granville, Hazel Granato, Jenny Leonard, Rose Bennett and Ida Granato.

Father Tyron Tomson will celebrate the funeral Mass at 10 am on Thursday, October 8, 2015 in Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison. Interment will follow beside his beloved wife in Calvary Cemetery in New Philadelphia. In keeping with Sam’s wishes, no public visitation is planned. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice.
