S. Marie Napier, 67, of Port Washington, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Twin City Hospital in Dennison after a long and hard fought battle with cancer. Born January 10, 1944 in Dennison, she was a daughter of the late John Albert “Bear” and Bernice Marie (Ridgeway) Cox.

She is also survived by seven children, Gerald (Lori) Napier of Mississippi, Mark (Cindy) Napier of Scio, Jamie (Marla) Napier of Mississippi, Lisa Napier and Billy Napier, Jr. both of Uhrichsville, Jeff Napier of Port Washington, and Jesse (Missy) Napier of Dennison; fourteen grandchildren, Gerald, Dawn (Jay), Darrick, Jessica, Ryan, Ariel, Mark Jr., Heather, Jamie Jr., Mark, Andrew, Justin, Katie, and Ali; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Sandy (Bill) Shepler; six brothers, Cubby, Larry (June), Jerry, Roger (Ruth), Steve (Patty), and Doug (Harriet) Cox; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Ed and Anna Napier, Larry and Betty Patterson, Darryl and Cheryl Napier, and Robert and Lillie Fox; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Tim Cox, and her father- and mother-in-law, Hershel and Edna Napier. She is also sadly missed by her beloved canine companion, Macey.
A resident of Tuscarawas County for much of her life, Marie attended Dennison High School. She loved caring for her family and, in her spare time, enjoyed crocheting, reading, and working puzzles. She loved the Gulf Coast where she lived for eight years, and especially enjoyed the fun times that she had at the local casinos there.
