Ruth Jayne Mcpeek

Ruth Jayne McPeek, age 76, of New Philadelphia, Ohio, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Sunday, January 15, 2012, following a brief illness.

Born in Cadiz, Ohio on October 4th, 1935, she was the daughter of the late William Lawrence “Hap” and Mary Lucille (McLandsborough) Wright. She is survived by her husband of fifty-five years, Ronald Dean McPeek; two daughters, Kim (Albert) Butcher and Mary Ann Milligan of New Philadelphia; two sons, Ronnie (Donna) McPeek of Tuscarawas and Pat (Melinda) McPeek of New Philadelphia; nine grandchildren, Bethanny and Lindsay Butcher, Rachelle (Cody) Braun, and Andy, Elizabeth, Seth, Jordan, Caitlin and Kylie McPeek; and two great grandchildren, Hailey and Mason.

In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her brother, Robert Wright who had resided at West Lafayette. She is survived by two brothers, Donald (Helen) Wright of Dennison, Gary (Patty) Wright of Uhrichsville; a sister, Mary Ann (Frank) Hicks of Uhrichsville; a sister-in-law, Lou Ann Wright Justice of West Lafayette; and many nieces and nephews.

After graduating from Dennison High School in the class of 1953, Ruth attended White Cross Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1956. She worked at Union Hospital on the maternity floor as a registered nurse for forty-four years until her retirement in 2000. Her favorite part of the job was rocking the newborns. She also enjoyed eating breakfast at the New Philadelphia Bob Evans where she was always treated like family by the waitresses.

Family and friends are welcome to attend the graveside service which will be held on Wednesday, January 18, at 1:30 p.m. at the Sharon Moravian Church Cemetery in Tuscarawas, Ohio, with the Rev. Darrell Johnson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ruth’s name to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W. 3rd St., Dover, OH 44622 or the Sharon Moravian Church, P.O.
